At the beginning of September, my three-month art residency at the Garage Studios began. This space comprises 18 separate workspaces, a shared studio, project spaces, and a painting studio. The goal of the program is to create a platform for work, communication, and knowledge exchange among authors from Moscow, Russian regions, and abroad.
During the residency, I’m working on two new artist books. One of them, “А.Л.Ж.И.Р” (in Russian the abbreviation sounds similar to the name of the country Algeria) with a poetic text by Eganа Cabbarly, is dedicated to the female prisoners of the Akmolinsk camp for “traitors of the motherland” in Kazakhstan. The book will be created on hand-made paper with Artemisia and bound in a cover made from reed stems. The second work will continue and expand the project “Total”, started this year, and will take the form of a financial report for the “Eurotour” project. This book will also be made from hand-cast paper, using recycled cash receipts as raw material.
