The Observatory: Art and Life in the Critical Zone
February 15 — September 15, 2024
Konstmuseet i norr, Kiruna, Sweden
Curator: Maria Lind
The group exhibition “The Observatory: Art and Life in the Critical Zone”, which includes my project “Assemblage”, will continue its journey through Sweden and starting from February will be shown at Konstmuseet i norr, also known as Norrbotten County Art Museum (Kin) in Kiruna in the north of the country. The exhibition brings together a collection of new and existing artworks by artists who, in diverse ways, actively engage with the multifaceted elements present in the “critical zone.” These elements encompass a wide range, spanning from earthworms and oil birds to imagined beach creatures and resilient potatoes, from indigenous landscapes and micro-territories to rainwater and archives of rural-based alternative communities across. The artists have employed painting, drawing, video, sculpture, performance, workshops, agriculture, and other means of expression.
