“The kids' 1990s”
February 17 — April 16, 2023
Art Gallery, Yeltsin Center, Yekaterinburg, Russia
Curators: Marina Sokolovskaya, Svetlana Usoltseva, Ilya Shipilovskikh
The exhibition “The kids' 1990s” offers a reflection on the experience of growing up in the nineties. How did the children see this time? How do they remember them as adults? The works of 15 Russian artists create fragmentary and nostalgia-free images of the era and life in that period. These projects are made from memories and stories about relationships in the family, the experiences of childhood, fears and joys, the first social practices and trying to understand how growing up in the nineties differs from childhood before and after — about the experience of a generation.
The exhibition at Yeltsin Center will feature a new iteration of the installation “To Grow from the Grass I Love” (2013–2023).
