Verkligheten gallery (Umeå) and Mint Konsthall (Stockholm) have organized my artist talk as part of an exchange program between artists in Russia and Sweden.
At the artist talk I will share an overview of a few projects that are meaningful for my practice. I will also tell about care & support strategies within the local art community in the Ural region, Russia, in which I take part after February 24, particularly about the Ural Kvartirale (a series of exhibitions in apartments and artist studios) and the so-called ghost gallery “Guest”.
Mint and after_red initiated the exchange program in 2021. As a continuation of the project, six artists and one curator from Russia are invited to residencies in Stockholm from October 2022 to November 2023. This residency aims to support individual artistic practices, encourage collegial conversations in different art contexts, and discuss the condition for contemporary art and thought today within dramatically shifting cultural and civil environments.
