In September, the first in a series of my exhibition-performances took place in the so-called Ural Europe — a region that features settlements with European names and which I have been exploring since 2018. The event showcased a site-specific project titled “This Was Not Sewn for Me, ” which combined my previous works Lookbook and Assemblage: photographs on fabric, mirrors in the shape of clothing patterns, and a new text.
After the performance, the audience who traveled to the exhibition from Yekaterinburg and Moscow participated in a discussion. A fragment from Mariana Roquette Teixeira’s book “The Exhibition as a Means of Personal Expression” about the innovative practices of Swiss curator served as the starting point for this discussion.
